Is Cinema Dead? - Chapter 43 - EBOOK and WEBSITE

Writer: Andrey AndonovAndrey Andonov

We did the website in the summer of 2017. Maybe a little bit later but we were using heavily and predominately our facebook page as the main platform for communication and promotion for NoOne.

We designed and created the website with only one goal to be a landing page and to inspire and provoke people to go and see the film in our VOD platform. The website was created to represent as close as possible the mood of the film and its atmosphere. The other reason to create the website was to have a landing page from where people to be able to downloaded the ebook for free. As well as a place where they can go back to watch the film after reading the ebook. At the end of the day 3.99 $ for an ebook and a feature film we thnk is a great deal.

The idea for the ebook and the website was in my head from the very beginning. I had in my mind the idea that beside NoOne we were going to make a documentary about the process of creating and distributing an independent micro budget film in a country like Bulgaria. And an interactive ebook which as well to tell the story of this process, of its struggle and failures along the road.

Somehow I believe that by creating and sharing the creativity, people would benefit from this process and flow.

Inspire! Be inspired and at the same time be the inspiration, because if the inspiration is not a merely inhalation, a fresh energetic breath of fresh mountain air what it is?

And if it is an inhalation there is an exhalation – be inspired, inspire and be the inspiration. Inhale, exhale and be the breathing – the life. This is what No One is all about. It's a movie about life and when you accept everything which comes with it, you start to enjoy deeply every moment from it and every trivia becomes a sacred experience, every detail a holly sacred profound thing – the profane disappears.

UPDATES FROM 29.04.2020

The official NoOne website was launched in 2017 and was alive until 2019. The overall revenue from our TVOD was around $ 1600. We used VIMEO as a streaming platform and those two years it costed us around $600 to use their streaming services.

The cost for the website was around $ 500. So as you can see by itself we managed to pull $ 500 profit from our two year TVOD. That is why we decided to cancel our website and TVOD profile in VIMEO.

I think that the TVOD model for monetization of an independent movie could work only if it is a mainstream genre movie and it has aggressive publicity and marketing.

The ebook IS CINEMA DEAD? was written at the end of 2018. However, I decided to pospone its publishing, because I wanted to combine my initial experience of making NoOne with my next endavour - Develping a TV Series and directing my second feature film Yatagan.

In 2020 I decided to post in my blog chapters by chapters in reverse order the book and then to combine the chapters and publish the entire book in Amazon.
